Piston honors former drivers turned martyr fighters

,

The Piston group honored on July 14 father and son Noel Bedonia Sr (Ka Felix) and Noel Bedonia Jr (Ka Anghel), martyrs of the revolutionary movement, for their selfless service to the people. The two were Red fighters who died in Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija on June 26.

The elder Bedonia was a full-time Piston organizer in Central Luzon before he joined the New People’s Army.

“The Piston salutes and pays high tribute to Noel “Ka Felix” Bedonia Sr and his son Noel “Ka Angel” Bedonia Jr, both revolutionary and red fighters, martyrs of Central Luzon, and heroes of transportation workers and people,” Piston said.

The Piston program, which was attended by the bereaved family, recounted the experience of the elder Bedonia when he was a jeepney driver plying the Roces Avenue and Project 6 routes. He became aware of the true social situation and his rights from the rallies he witnessed while transporting and through leaflets handed to him by activists.

He decided to work full time as a Piston organizer. Along with his family, he lived in the office of the organization. Later, he moved to work as an organizer in Central Luzon, taking his entire family with him, including the then 11-year-old Noel Jr. There, the Bedonias embraced a higher level of struggle, and joined the NPA.

“The memory and legacy of struggle of the Bedonia father and son will remain alive in (the drivers’) every terminal and route,” Piston said.
