A fleeting memory alights
Of that quietly-withered time
Forgotten green on a desert.
Our shouts were hollow then
In the alleyways disturbed and echoed
As days passed, some grew hoarse
Some grew faint, struggled, then faded away
Some were buried
But some took seed.
They have bid calm days farewell
The dead leaves have fallen.
Here, now
The grass and surroundings are constantly changing
The alleyways are gone
No longer are shouts hushed
No longer are shadows buried.
Here the path is certain
On the perilous cliffs
And the child is now
A guerrilla witnessing victories
Listening, watching, joining
The wave of history.
