Communist Party of Nepal (UML)
[Nepal]

On the Occasion
of the 35th Anniversary of the reestablishment
of the Communist Party of the Philippines

December 22, 2003
The Central Committee
Communist Party of Philippines

Dear Comrades,

It is a matter of pleasure to know that the Communist Party of Philippines is celebrating its 35th anniversary on December 26, 2003. In this very occasion, the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) would like to extend its solidarity to the Communist Party of Philippines and its movements for the national liberation and social justice.

The imperialism today has been gearing up the process of privatization, liberalization and deregularization aiming at capturing the world market in the name of globalization. The increasing imperialism led globalization in the financial and trade sectors have had posed greater challenges to the economic development and social harmony in the developing and least developed countries. Similarly, today, the imperialist offense has been increased under the pretext of anti-terrorist campaigns. It has further enhanced its attack against the people's movements and national liberation struggles.

However, the crisis in the imperialist and capitalist camp has also been deepening. It has been manifested in many areas. The growing trade disputes among the major capitalist blocks, the differences over the attack on Iraq, the role of the United Nations are some of it. Moreover, the growing unemployment, failing social welfare system and increasing financial and economic crisis are few of many problems that the imperialist capitalist countries have been facing today. The growing people's discontents have had further deepened their crisis. Similarly, the popular movements developing in various forms against the imperialist offense and its domination in many parts of the world have manifested that the imperialists offense cannot be long last.

Similarly, the world communist movement has also started to regain its lost momentum after the demise of the Soviet model socialism in former Soviet Union and Eastern European countries. In many country the communist parties and national liberation organizations are organizing people and launching anti-imperialist struggles in various forms and they have been adopting new methods and tactics in their given situation and contexts.

Under this prevailing world situation, the Communist Party of the Philippines has been launching its struggle against the imperialists and comprador bourgeois. Your continuous struggle against the imperialism has further encourage the people's movements in other countries in the Asia Pacific region as well as in the world.

The Communist Party of Nepal (UML) and the Communist Party of the Philippines have had long relationships. On this very occasion, we would like to express our solidarity and support to you and hope that the existing fraternal relations and cooperation between our two parties will further deepen and strengthen in the days to come.

Long live the solidarity between the communists of Nepal and the Philippines.

Comradely regards,

Department of International Relations
CPN (UML)
