US imperialism is the real terrorist in Iraq--CPP

Stop turning the truth upside-down. This is the plain message of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) to the United States whose officials said yesterday that the early withdrawal of Philippine troops in Iraq "would send the wrong signal to terrorists."

"In the first place," said CPP spokesperson Gregorio "Ka Roger" Rosal, "the principal terrorists in Iraq are the US invasion and occupation forces who have been massacring, torturing and abusing tens of thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians, bombing Iraqi establishments and homes, destroying essential infrastructure and holding hostage the entire Iraqi country and people to US international terrorism, superower hegemony and plunder."

Rosal said further that it is the US invasion and occupation of Iraq and its brutal and savage terrorizing of the Iraqi masses that convey a clear and unequivocal signal to the Iraqi people to carry out resistance by all means possible.

The CPP, in the same vein, condemned the US for arrogantly meddling in Philippine affairs and opposing the widespread demand of the Filipino people to immediately withdraw the Philippine militiary contingent in Iraq in order to save the life of Filipino overseas worker Angelo dela Cruz who is currently held hostage by an Iraqi resistance group, and to correct the puppet government's very mistake in sending Philippine troops to support the US occupation and terrorizing of Iraq.

Rosal said the White House statement yesterday, followed by a similar US embassy statement, opposing the withdrawal of Philippine troops is "sheer arrogant interventionism in Philippine internal affairs."
