CPP-NPA vows patriotic war against US armed aggression
March 28, 2003

The Communist Party of the Philippines vowed to wage a patriotic war should US combat troops enter the territories of the revolutionary movement and warned that US aggression in the country could cause the downfall of the Arroyo government.

In a statement commemorating the NPAs 34th anniversary on March 29, CPP spokesperson Gregorio Ka Roger Rosal said that although the NPA will maintain its overall defensive stance in the current stage of peoples war, any US combat force that enters the territories of the revolutionary movement or deploys in adjacent areas will be a target of attack by the NPA and the people.

Rosal also said that US armed aggression would trigger a broad patriotic opposition capable of overthrowing the current regime and any succeeding regime that allows the entry of foreign combat forces.

Rosal said that the Arroyo regime has been trying to circumvent the constitutional ban on the deployment of foreign troops in the country because of its inability to defeat the revolutionary forces. It is now relying mainly on direct US aggression to defeat the revolution in the Philippines.

Rosal said that in contrast with the revolutionary movements continued advance and its growing number of supporters, the Arroyo government is on the path of inexorable decline and is being repudiated by more and more people due to its extreme puppetry, brutality and corruption. He said that NPA Red fighters enjoyed high morale while demoralization was rampant among government military forces.

Rosal accused psywar operatives of the CIA and the Pentagon of conspiring with Defense Secretary Angelo Reyes to set off the spate of bombings in Mindanao, using the latter to justify the terrorist tags on the MILF and the NPA and rationalize direct US military intevention in the country in the pretext of an anti-terrorist war.

He said that the US had likewise prodded the Arroyo government to use the gambit of scuttling peace talks with the CPP-NPA-NDFP and the MILF and intensifying military attacks against them to force them to surrender.

Rosal, however, said that the NPA and the MILF have been confronting and frustrating the military campaigns against their forces. Rosal repeated his earlier declaration that the NPA would be launching more numerous, more widespread and more frequent armed tactical offensives.

Anticipating the Arroyo governments downfall before or after the 2004 polls, Rosal assured the CPP-NPAs readiness to either hold talks with Arroyos successor or brace themselves for continued suppression. ###
