US-Macapagal-Arroyo regime shows why people need to continue armed struggle – CPP
August 9, 2002
“It is the US-Macapagal-Arroyo regime’s exploitative and oppressive policies that provide the biggest bases why the Filipino people should continue advancing the armed struggle.” Rosal, spokesman of the Communist Party of the Philippines.
Rosal was responding to the statement by presidential adviser Norberto Gonzales that the NPA should stop the armed struggle.
Rosal said that “in fact, under the current regime, more and more heroic workers, peasants, youth and women desire to join the NPA”.
He identified the three points which “intensify the oppression, poverty and suppression” of the people: “unbridled liberalization”, “blind puppetry to US imperialism and complete surrender of national sovereignty” and “all-out militarization, especially in the countryside”.
By discarding “the “maximum tolerance” policy, the brutal attacks against peaceful demonstrators and her declaration of all-out war… has further encouraged the people to take up arms and advance the armed struggle to victory”, Rosal asserted.
He declared that “as the crisis of the ruling system intensifies, so does the flame of armed revolution spread like wildfire nationwide”.
