Tear the National ID System-Ka Roger

"Just as Andres Bonifacio and the people tore the oppressive sedula, let us band together and tear the oppressive and tyranical National ID System." This was the declaration made by Gregorio "Ka Roger" Rosal, in a statement released to the media today.

Ka Roger compared the National ID to the sedula during the Spanish colonial period. According to Ka Roger, "In the hands of a bureaucratic-military government like that of Macapagal-Arroyo, the National ID System will be used like the sedula was used by the Guardia Civil during the Spanish colonial period-as an instrument of the state to control every movement of each and every citizen".

According to Ka Roger, "the National ID System will be used against the people, especially in suppressing their legitimate grievances and struggles".

He asserted that the bombings in Metro Manila and Zamboanga were "plotted" by Malacanang and the AFP "in order to gather support for the National ID System and other oppressive measures being undertaken by Macapagal-Arroyo in her undeclared "state of emergency".

"Roilo Golez is a farce when he claims that the National ID System will be made voluntary. Since it will be required in government and bank transactions, everyone will be obliged to acquire a National ID," Ka Roger stated further.###
