PRESS RELEASE Information Bureau Communist Party of the Philippines
"JI threat" smokescreen for US military intervention--CPP
February 10, 2005
The Communist Party of the Philippines issued the following statement regarding US Admiral Thomas Fargo's declaration yesterday that the US military will continue to collaborate with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to "make sure that the JI (Jemahiyaa Islamiya) is not present in the Philippines":
The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) condemns the interventionist statements issued yesterday by Adm. Thomas Fargo, US Pacific Command chief, who arrogantly claimed the right to operate within Philippine territory using the so-called "JI threat" as a smokescreen.
The CPP condemns the Arroyo regime for its servile support to US armed intervention in the Philippines. The Arroyo regime allows the imperialist US government to trample on Philippine sovereignty and use the Philippines as a base for its military operations in the Asia-Pacific region.
The "JI threat" is nothing but a smokescreen concocted by the US propaganda mill to justify the US' "war on terror" that has made a mockery of Philippine sovereignty.
Freedom-loving Filipinos are moreover utterly disgusted with Arroyo's conferment of the Legion of Honor award to Fargo, one of the pillars of US international terrorism.
