"Pulang Mandirigma: Images of the New People's Army", now available!
May 2, 2004

A book launching was held last Friday, April 30 at the Balai Kalinaw, University of the Philippines. More than 50 people, among them, activists, members of the academe and the media, witnessed the event.

The occasion was graced by Comrade Coni Ledesma, member of the Negotiating Panel of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines. Through a phone patch, CPP spokesman Gregorio "Ka Roger" Rosal, expressed his message of solidarity. He officially launched the book.

The book launching was sponsored by the Confederation of Teachers for Nationalism and Democracy (CONTEND).

The book is published by the Information Bureau of the CPP (CPP-IB). It features around 130 photos of NPA Red fighters around the archipelago. The book is 8"x8" in size and contains 150 pages.

In his foreword, Rosal said that in preparing for the book, the CPP-IB received close to 10,000 photos from photographers and the different NPA units. "Collecting the pictures was not that hard. What was more difficult was selecting more than just a hundred pictures which would be featured in the book.

"The different NPA units around the Philippines enthusiastically supported the photobook project," Rosal added.

The images in the book will belie the insistent claims of US imperialism and the Philippines government that the NPA is a "terrorist" organization.

"Pulang Mandirigma: Images of the New People's Army" is priced at P250 in the Philippines. It will sell for $15 abroad. Copies will be made available in the NDF's International Office.#
