Talaingod ambush, a legitimate military action

The New People's Army avers that its recent ambush of two soldiers belonging to the Reengineered Special Operations Team of the 73rd Infantry Battalion in Talaingod, Davao del Norte was a legitimate military action. Red fighters of the Danilo Buanjug Command of the NPA were able to confiscate a .45 caliber pistol from the visibly armed soldiers.

Col. Roderick Parayno of the 73rd IB and Col. Eduardo del Rosario of the Task Force Davao would have it believed that their troops were in such a hapless situation, that they were in civilian clothes, unarmed and on a mission purely administrative in nature -- to be mercilessly ambushed and finished off by the NPA operatives. They would like to make it appear that the ambush violated the rules of engagement and of the international humanitarian law.

The four soldiers, while in plain clothes, were on their way to provide supplies for the ongoing training of paramilitary Cafgus and Alamara in Talaingod. As members of the RSOT, they are legitimate targets of attack of the NPA. The RSOT is a key component of the Arroyo regime's counterrevolutionary campaign to crush the NPA and to destroy the revolutionary mass base in the countrysides.

The 73rd IB in Talaingod has been responsible for the massive intelligence building, forced Cafgu/Alamara recruitment, and civil-military operations to deceive the masses.

By creating the Alamara, the 73rd IB has unleashed mayhem in Lumad areas. Military assets and criminals in the Alamara have instigated the massacre, cattle rustling, extortion and kidnap-for-ransom activities in these farflung communities.

The NPA seizes every opportunity to launch deadly blows against the enemy units. The Talaingod ambush is portent of things to come as the revolutionary movement shall continue to thwart the enemy's mobility and stymie the fascist US-Arroyo regime's counterrevolutionary machinations.
