Bush has done a lot of favors to Osama bin Laden and Al Qaida

Since 9/11, George W. Bush has done a lot of favors to Osama bin Laden and Al Qaida.

He has dignified them by mixing them up with national liberation movements, anti-imperialist leaders, religious institutions and charitable foundations in lists designating all as "terrorists."

Such padded lists serve to deflect the focus of attention on the alleged perpetrators of 9/11. And the biggest deflection has been the US war of aggression on Iraq, in which Bush has tried to shift the target of the people�s outrage from Osama bin Laden to Saddam Hussein.

Bush makes a self-fulfilling prophecy, when he proclaims an endless "war on terror", because he misrepresents as "terrorist" national liberation movements, governments assertive of national independence and anti-imperialist leaders and proceeds to take violent actions against them and to drive them to wage resistance.

After launching a war of aggression on Iraq and thus generating popular armed resistance there, Bush himself claims consequently that the followers of Osama Lin Laden have found fertile ground there for growing. In fact, a broad alliance of Iraqi patriotic forces is conducting the resistance.

Bush also provocatively accuses Iran of facilitating the entry of �terrorists� into Iraq. Thus, he lays the ground for wider aggressive actions of the US. He underestimates the fact that the Arab and other peoples in the Middle East detest and resist the scheme to aggrandize US imperialist hegemony over the region with US military bases in Iraq.

Under Bush, the US has intensified and spread turmoil on a wide scale by seeking to further control the sources of oil and gas as well as supply routes in the Caspian sea region, Central Asia and the Middle East. The strategic plan of the US is to further subordinate the global economy to the US oil monopolies.

In oil-rich Southeast Asia, the US has also found it convenient to use Abu Sayyaf and similar creations of the CIA as pretext for taking the stance of warring on terrorism, escalating US military intervention and tightening US control over the oil and other natural resources and the trade routes in the region.

Bush has gone to the extent of misrepresenting the Communist Party of the Philippines, New People�s Army and the NDFP chief political consultant as "terrorists" and sabotaging the peace negotiations between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines.

In whipping up "anti-terrorist" hysteria and unleashing war and repression, the Bush regime expects to deliver huge profits to the military-industrial complex, the oil monopolies and other monopoly firms that thrive on state contracts.

These are the firms in which the Bush and bin Laden families have invested heavily through the Carlyle group of investors. Somehow, Osama of the bin Laden family is useful to the Carlyle group. He used to collaborate prominently with the CIA against the Soviet forces in Afghanistan in the 1980s.

Bush appears to reap political capital from the acts of aggression and intervention that he orders the US military forces to carry out. But these forces are already overstretched under conditions of economic and social crisis, such as deep stagnation, severe unemployment, unprecedented US deficits and huge indebtedness.

These crisis conditions are sharpening the suffering of the people and are generating their resistance in the US and on a global scale. Legal protest movements and revolutionary mass movements are steadily growing against the No. 1 terrorist power, U.S. imperialism, as well as against its allies and puppets.###
