Message of the Makabayang Samahang Pangkalusugan on the 31st anniversary of the NDFP

The Makabayang Samahang Pangkalusugan (MSP) [Patriotic Health Organization - National Democratic Front] joyously unites with all revolutionary organizations and individuals in saluting the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) on its 31st founding anniversary.
In its 31 years of existence, the NDF and its allied organizations have steadfastly adhered to pursuing a national democratic revolution with the aim of building a just and humane society. The allied organizations based in the countrysides constantly persevere in the implementation of agrarian revolution and advancing the rights of the peasantry, are actively involved in endeavors to emancipate peasant women, and above all in advancing the revolutionary armed struggle.
The allied organizations of the NDF in the cities strive to advance the revolutionary mass movement in the cities. The NDF continues to grow and has won over increasing numbers from the working class, peti-burgeoisie and national bourgeoisie to participate in the revolution. They effectively contribute concretely to the needs of the revolutionary forces and organized masses.They help in the expansion and consolidation of the mass base. They also assist the organs of political power in developing programs and services like literacy programs, health and sanitation work and disaster preparedness in the guerrilla fronts. Quite a number of activists coming from these classes have taken up the challenge to work full-time in the countrysides.
The NDF is sincere in attaining just and lasting peace for the Filipino people. For over ten years now, the NDF has engaged in peace negotiations with the Philippine government. The ongoing peace negotiations represent another arena of struggle that complements the revolutionary armed struggle and parliamentary forms of struggle. By firmly adhering to the correct framework in the conduct of the peace negotiations, the NDF has accomplished the signing of over 10 documents of the peace negotiations, most significant of which is the Comprehensive Agreement on the Respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (CARHRIHL). Very recently, the negotiations have resulted in the setting up of a Joint Monitoring Committee to monitor the implementation of CARHRIHL and adherence to human rights and international humanitarian law.
The path to a just, democratic and humane society remains obstacle-ridden. We have yet to unite the broad masses of the Filipino people to fight to overthrow US imperialism and the local reactionary ruling class of big compradors and landlords. The NDF and its allied organizations need to aggressively expand and draw in other progressive and democratic forces to contribute through various ways towards this end.
We health professionals, health students and health workers who constitute the Makabayang Samahang Pangkalusugan (MSP) vow to continue in expanding and consolidating our ranks to contribute to the evergrowing needs of the armed struggle in the countrysides and work hand in hand with the other allied organizations of the NDF towards achieving the victory of the national democratic revolution.#
