A message of solidarity on the 30th founding anniversary of the NDFP

Andres Guerrero II

April 24, 2003

A red salute to the officers, members and allies of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) on the occasion of its 30th founding anniversary! We join all comrades and the Filipino people in celebrating this historic event.

Thirty years after it was formally founded in 1973, the NDFP grasps firmly its sentral task in the national democratic revolution - to unite the Filipino people against the prevailing semicolonial and semifeudal system through people's war, and in time, complete the national democratic revolution. By maintaining its belligerency status, it has never waivered in representing the Filipino people and the revolutionary movement, in the peace talks with the reactionary Government of the Republic of the Philippines.

The NDFP stood firmly and emerged unfaltering over the opportunist and renegades who craved for the demise of the revolution. Ten years now since its 1st national conference when the NDFP program was constituted, it has won victories for the Filipino people.

As member of the NDFP, the Kabataang Makabayan (KM) took great strides in arousing, organizing and mobilizing a wide section of the youth and students sector for the revolutionary cause. A major contribution of KM is the relentless disposition of its members in the countryside to help build organs of political power and conduct important revolutionary work.

In its current endeavor, KM officers and members are actively engaging in the growing organizational undertakings primarily in building and consolidating of chapters in schools and communities. It is preparing for a national conference in time for a national congress not before long.

We likewise take the occasion to honor Antonio 'Manong' Zumel, chairman of the NDFP from 1990 to 1994, and later, NDFP National Executive Committee honorary chair until his time of death. Indeed a principled statesman and an outstanding revolutionary, we shall always take inspiration from Manong's selfless dedication to the revolution and the people. He has joined the countless martyrs who took the road less travelled and fully embraced the masses. The Filipino youth shall always commit to the memory and learn from their revolutionary legacy.

Long live the memory of Antonio Zumel and other revolutionary martyrs!

Long live the Kabataang Makabayan!

Long live the National Democratic Front of the Philippines!

Long live the Filipino people!###
