Only a handful of counterrevolutionary traitors are actual targets of NPA
February 1, 2003

The Communist Party of the Philippines today decried "the orchestrated hype about a so-called bloody NPA crackdown on counterrevolutionary elements."

In a statement, CPP spokesperson Gregorio "Ka Roger" Rosal clarified that "only a few counterrevolutionary diehards proven to have committed heinous crimes and incurred blood debts against the people and revolutionary movement are deserving of capital punishment. Kintanar would have been spared if not for his capital crimes and counterrevolutionary activities."

He said that "in saying that they fear liquidation by the NPA, it is this handful of traitors and renegades that are creating this hype, together with their cohorts in the military and the psywar mill of the government. They desperately wish to portray the CPP/NPA as vengeful, bloodthirsty and indiscriminate killers."

"Karamihan sa mga kontra-rebolusyonaryong traydor, kabilang ang ilan sa walang tigil na dumudura ng lason laban sa rebolusyonaryong kilusan, ay hindi kinakailangang maging military target hanggat wala silang malaking krimen," Rosal said.

"But they are only playing into the hands of the renegade armed grouplets, specifically the RPA-ABB and RHB, who are carrying out armed attacks against the New People's Army," Rosal added.

Rosal said that the RPA-ABB, as well as the RHB, have long been working with the AFP and PNP in launching military attacks against the NPA and its revolutionary mass base. "These armed groups have formal and informal agreements with the regime to conduct counter-insurgency operations."

He explained that "they have practically become paramilitary groups much like the CAFGU, not only in terms of open military collusion with the AFP, but also in terms of their antagonistic relations with the masses and their grave human rights violations."

Rosal said further that "it is pure humbug for them to claim control over large areas, supposedly in Mindanao. In areas where they do operate, they are isolated from, feared and hated by the masses because of their banditry and other anti-people activities." ###
