CPP advises Guingona to take this opportunity to undo Arroyo's wrongs
September 4, 2003
The Communist Party of the Philippines today said that Vice President Teofisto
Guingona's "delicadeza may be understandable, especially in contrast to Arroyo's
obstinacy and vicious schemes to stay in power."
CPP spokesperson Gregorio "Ka Roger" Rosal said, however, that Guingona cannot ignore
the fact that there is now a growing mass movement calling for Arroyo's immediate ouster
and asking him to step in to replace her." Rosal advised Guingona to take this
opportunity to undo Arroyo's wrongs.
Rosal was reacting to the statement yesterday by Guingona who said he would not resort
to extra-constitutional means to replace Arroyo. Guingona vehemently dismissed last
night accusations by Malacaang that he is behind the plot to expose Arroyo's grand
corruption and instigate actions to remove her.
Rosal said that "In the face of the intensifying demand and growing mass movement
demanding that the Arroyos be kicked out of Malacaang for large-scale corruption,
Malacaang has now turned its viciousness against Guingona who it now considers the new
immediate threat." Rosal advised Guingona not to be fazed by Malacaang's sudden
antagonism against him and instead stand up to the challenge of the masses."
The other day, Rosal called for "massive demonstrations to press for the immediate
ouster of Arroyo and let Vice President Guingona take over and reverse the wrongdoings
of Arroyo."
Rosal said that the revolutionary movement was hopeful that Guingona "will undo the acts
of utter puppetry, militarism and corruption of the Arroyo presidency." The CPP
spokesman also expressed hope that Guingona would "immediately issue an order to stop
the all-out war and resume peace negotiations with the National Democratic Front and
MILF."#
