AFP, PNP are concocting ludicrous intrigues - Ka Roger
June 17, 2004

The Communist Party of the Philippines today described the supposed New People's Army plot to assassinate opposition presidential candidate Fernando Poe Jr as another ludicrous knot in the string of malicious intrigues by the national security adviser and AFP-PNP directed against the revolutionary forces as well as the regime's main foes in the still-unresolved electoral contest.

CPP spokesperson Gregorio "Ka Roger" Rosal said that this Poe assassination spin is just the latest in a series of concoctions by NSA Norberto Gonzales, AFP spokesman Lt Col. Daniel Lucero and PNP Director Gen. Hermogenes Ebdane. Rosal added that Ebdane's effort to convince the Kilusan ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino about the assassination threat was just laughed off by Poe's party.

Rosal said that the CPP had not even bothered to issue a formal statement to give any degree of importance to the earlier Gonzales-Ebdane psywar spin about NPA operatives now in Metro Manila to assassinate former Dept. of National Defense and now National Anti-kidnapping Task Force (NAKTF) chief Angelo Reyes, Commission on Elections Chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr. and Gonzales himself.

The CPP spokesperson said that the NSA and AFP-PNP spinners are busy churning out one psywar spin after another in an effort to create intrigues against the revolutionary forces and the regime's electoral opposition and to stupefy the public in the face of mounting evidence of electoral fraud and apprehensions about the mandate of the incoming regime. Among the spins Rosal referred to are the so-called destabilization plots, such as Oplan Aklas-Bayan and Oplan Three Kings, supposedly being planned by the opposition and disgruntled military officers and forces in collusion with the revolutionary forces.

Rosal said that the massive electoral fraud and violence and the growing national tension in the most highly contentious and overly long-drawn congressional canvass of the presidential and vice-presidential elections in the history of reactionary elections in the country are indeed gathering into a political storm because of the anger of the people as well as of unjustly aggrieved parties.

He added that the government security, military and police forces are worried about this but are barking up the wrong tree. "All they are doing is trying to look for scapegoats, such as fictitious assassination plots, instead of feeling the political temper of the people and looking at their valid causes," said Rosal.
