Arroyo has a muddled view of the relationship between poverty and revolution -- CPP
October 7, 2004
Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has revealed a muddled view of the relationship between poverty and revolution in her claims that the raging civil war in the countryside is an immediate cause of hunger and poverty.
"Baligtad ang tingin ni Arroyo sa mga problema ng mga Pilipino. (Arroyo's grasp of the problems of the Filipino people is the opposite of reality)", Rosal said. "No wonder she cannot address, not even by an iota, the problems of the Filipino masses."
Rosal explained that it is widespread and growing poverty and the Arroyo government's unjust "terrorist war" that are the immediate reasons why the Filipino toiling masses have been flocking to NPA recruiting stations.
"Arroyo's reverse logic leads to budgetary distortions that are detrimental to the people. Massive funds are made available for debt servicing and for the AFP and PNP--the regime's instruments in its terrorist war against the people and the revolutionary forces," Rosal added.
"At the same time, she reduces the budget for items beneficial to the people such as health, education and support services for agriculture," he added.
