Developments in the work of the New People's Army

Mass Base Building
National Scene
Gains		 March 29, 2005. The NPA has significantly increased the number of its full-time Red fighters and its automatic rifles and other high-powered weapons. It has organized and trained the people's militia for police work or internal security in the localities and the self-defense in the mass organizations. It is now operating in more than 130 guerrilla fronts covering significant portions of nearly 70 provinces, in around 800 municipalities and more than 9,000 barrios.
Mindanao
Gains		 March 29, 2005. The NPA has maintained the 38 guerilla fronts in the whole island covering 19 provinces, more than 200 towns and cities and more than 2,000 barrios...Mindanao’s revolutionary mass base has reached more than 500,000..; Thousands of the masses have gained economic benefits out of the struggles waged against feudal and semi-feudal exploitation. They have also benefited from various social services such as free medical care, literacy programs and other services implemented by the guerilla units.
Nueva Ecija, Central Luzon
Arbitration		 March 2005. Isa sa mga importanteng bagay na kinakaharap ng BHB sa araw-araw ang pagharap sa mga usapin o tunggalian sa hanay ng masa at ang pangangailangang lutasin ang mga ito sa pamamagitan ng arbitrasyon;
South Quezon, Southern Tagalog
PKM Conference		 March 2005. Matagumpay na naidaos ang unang kumperensya ng pagbubuo ng balangay ng Pambansang Katipunan ng mga Magbubukid (PKM) sa isang baryo sa South Quezon.
Quezon, Southern Tagalog
Expansion		 December 2004. Di mapigilan ang pagdami ng mamamayang nagsusulong ng demokratikong rebolusyon ng bayan...; Lumaki ang bilang ng organisadong masa nang mahigit 10% at ang mga saligang organisasyong masa nang mahigit 8%.
Nationwide
Relief and Rehabilitation		 December 2004. Units of the New People's Army (NPA) in calamity-stricken areas have been helping out in rescue operations especially in areas which are most inaccessible even to the military.
Western Mindanao Region
Expansion		 2004. The memberships of peasant, women, youth and other organizations are now in the tens of thousands, expanding the people's organized strength. The overall mass base now comes to several hundreds of thousands and is expected to grow even more in 2005.
Gattaran, Cagayan
Recovery Work		 2004. After more than a decade, the NPA once again established its presence in an area beseiged by counterrevolutionary violence and state deceit. Broad mass movements, especially those that began in 2002, further sped up earlier efforts by the NPA to surmount the long and arduous recovery process.
Northeastern Luzon
Mass base expansion		 Mid-2004. "There really was no such thing as an "unyielding" area so long as the interests of the masses are advanced. Also in the mid-2004 assessment, this was again proven as the doubling of the size of the mass base, the tripling of the number of organizing groups, organized masses, organized women and the youth, the quadrupling of the number of organized peasants and the growing of the number of activists by 12 times were seen.
Northeastern Luzon
Anti-malaria campaign		 Mid-2004. The regional party committee assessed the success of the anti-malaria campaign carried-out primarily by the New People's Army and revolutionary mass organizations across barrios.
Nationwide
Medical Services		 July, 2004. The New People's Army now counts hundreds of medics, dentists and surgeons among its ranks as a result of its efforts to systematize trainings in medical work. The accumulated experience of Red medics is a rich trove of medical and scientific knowledge that directly serves the revolutionary forces and the people. Ka Argie is one such medic.
Cagayan Valley
Anti-malaria
campaign		 Current since 2001. Lead by the National Medical Staff of the NPA, the People's Army continues to launch an anti-malaria medical, educational and political campaign in Cagayan Valley which is beginning to spread to other parts of Luzon.
Mindanao
Mass base
expansion		 April 2004. In a statement on March 29, the CPP Mindanao Commission said that the NPA has been able to expand to 2,000 barrios or 20% of the total 10,021 barrios in Mindanao.
