Calbiga, Western Samar
Ambush
April 8, 2005. The Arnulfo Ortiz Command (AOC) of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Western Samar successfully ambushed 1Lt.Williamson Tan and five soldiers from the 62nd IB and subsequently confiscated an M60 machine gun, M203 rifle, two M14 rifles, and two M16 rifles.
Mindanao
Gains
March 29, 2005. In the military arena, the NPA has (also) continuously scored many gains with 116 actions successfully launched, seizing numerous high powered firearms. This is an increase from the 93 actions implemented in the previous year. Our defensive actions have notably reduced. And even in defensive actions, the Red fighters and commanders demonstrated their bravery and military expertise. In many instances, they were able to seize the initiative from the enemy troops.

Ambush
March 3, 2005. The Arnulfo Ortiz Command (AOC) of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Western Samar seized five high-powered firearms and other military equipment in an ambush on elements of the 34th IB.
Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Occidental
Ambush
February 28, 2005. Two soldiers from the 10th IBPA, including 1Lt. Asangi Tumpilan, were killed in an ambush. Three others were wounded.

National Scene
Gains
March 29, 2005. The NPA has significantly increased the number of its full-time Red fighters and its automatic rifles and other high-powered weapons. It has organized and trained the people's militia for police work or internal security in the localities and the self-defense in the mass organizations. It is now operating in more than 130 guerrilla fronts covering significant portions of nearly 70 provinces, in around 800 municipalities and more than 9,000 barrios.

Gains
March 29, 2005. The NPA has maintained the 38 guerilla fronts in the whole island covering 19 provinces, more than 200 towns and cities and more than 2,000 barrios...Mindanao’s revolutionary mass base has reached more than 500,000..; Thousands of the masses have gained economic benefits out of the struggles waged against feudal and semi-feudal exploitation. They have also benefited from various social services such as free medical care, literacy programs and other services implemented by the guerilla units.

January 2005. Active campaigns to take care of the forests of San Mariano, San Guillermo, Echague and Jones, to ensure the safety of the people from landslides and other hazards brought about by relentless logging and deforestation

Continuous Advance
December 2004. Resikada has been lowered and in some places it has been removed completely; The struggle to win higher wages of farm workers, to increase the prices of farm products, to change the sharing system, to defend the right to planting, to oppose landgrabbing and the opening of landfill and others were victorious in other places.
Western Mindanao
Successful minimum land reform program
2004. Led by the party, hundreds of families benefited -- farm workers in rice & coconut lands enjoyed wage hikes, usury was reduced by 50%, transportation costs for agricultural products were also reduced, unjust practice of subtracting certain percentage from the weight of copra was eliminated, prices of basic commodities in village stores also reduced, and production through cooperation developed.
Cagayan Valley
Successful struggles
Mid-2004. The regional party committee conference assessed the victorious mobilization of some 10,000 peasants in 200 barrios in 2003 and 2004, versus large-scale landgrabbing and for the reduction of usury. Farmgate prices were raised, fraud in the marketplace was eradicated. About 366,800 people or 55,000 families benefitted. The following year, electoral struggle and agrarian revolution were simultaneously undertaken to make each serve the other.

December 26, 2004. Celebrating the 36th anniversary of the reestablishment of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) in scores of guerrilla fronts nationwide, thousands of New People's Army (NPA) Red fighters together with tens of thousands of revolutionary masses and supporters..
Panay
New collection of literary works published
July, 2004. Revolutionary cultural work has gained new vigor in Panay with the publication of new several collections of poetry, songs, anecdotes, short stories, comics and drawings. The production of video documentaries has also begun.
Nationwide
Collection of NPA photographs launched
April 30, 2004. Pulang Mandirigma: Images of the New People's Army, a collection of various NPA photographs, was released. By showing the daily activities of the Red fighters in the service of the country and in upholding Red political power, the book strongly belies the black propaganda that the New People's Army is a terrorist organization.
