NPA reports 60 enemy troops killed in Cagayan Valley last year

May 18, 2005

In a report on the recent anniversary of the New People's Army, the Fortunato Camus Command (FCC) in Cagayan Valley declared that the revolutionary armed struggle in the region continue to flourish despite the all-out counterrevolutionary war of the reactionary US-Arroyo regime.

The report which was received recently by the CPP Information Bureau covers the period March 29, 2004 to March 29, 2005. It states that the forces belonging to the NPA-FCC was able to launch several tactical offensives wherein enemy troops of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) suffered 60 casualties. No NPA Red fighter was killed in these offensives.

NPA-FCC spokesman Victor Servidores was quick to point out, however, that the NPA must launch more offensives in order to seize additional weapons and war materiel in order to arm the growing number of Red fighters and to stop the AFP from carrying out more destructions and violence against the people of Cagayan Valley.

Servidores noted that the strength of the NPA in the region has doubled since 1999. Majority of the guerilla fighters are youthful men and women from whom new officers and cadres are being trained. According to Servidores, the NPA-FCC is firmly consolidated and disciplined as they undergo trainings and educational campaigns. Up to 95% of NPA fighters in the region have finished the Basic Party Course of the CPP and up to 85% of the Party cadres finished studying the Intermediate Party Course.

Because of their militance and discipline, the NPA-FCC continues to achieve victories in building the people's revolutionary power in Cagayan Valley. Servidores reports that the organized forces in the region has increased by almost 220%. The NPA-FCC operates in hundreds of barrios in scores of towns. Scores of full-fledge mass organizations covering several barrios have been established.
