Australian clandestine operations in Philippines violate national sovereignty--CPP says June 21, 2005
The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today deplored the Philippine government for inviting and allowing forces of the Australian Federal Police to conduct intelligence operations in the Philippines.
CPP spokesman Gregorio "Ka Roger" Rosal said allowing foreign police operatives to spy on the Filipino people "constitute a grave violation of national sovereignty".
Rosal said the Australian intelligence operations in the Philippines are part of the "US-directed war against terror which serves as a cover for expanding US military influence around the globe."
Rosal called the Australian Prime Minister John Howard an "American toady who mimics every move of the US government and mouths every word of his master George W. Bush."
Rosal said there is a big possibility that Australian intelligence operatives are working along with American military officials in carrying out espionage operations in Mindanao, Bicol and elsewhere.
Citing news reports, Rosal said there are at least 75 American spies who use AFP camps as bases for their operations.
Rosal it is at the prodding of its US military advisers that the Arroyo regime is carrying out brutal attacks against people's organizations that resist economic policies and political measures that serve US interests.
