PRESS RELEASE Information Bureau Communist Party of the Philippines
Tax burdens, price hikes, economic demise, all the more reason to end Arroyo regime
July 1, 2005
The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today condemned the Arroyo regime for the people's increased suffering as the expanded Value Added Tax (eVAT) precipitates sharp hikes in the prices of oil and other basic commodities and services.
"With the additional tax burdens it has imposed on an already devastated people, the Arroyo regime continues to exhibit complete disregard for the plight of the Filipino masses. Totoong manhid siya! (She is truly insensitive.)" said CPP spokesperson Gregorio "Ka Roger" Rosal.
Rosal said that the people all the more resent the new tax burdens as this "would only serve to extend the lifeline of the thieves in Malacanang" whose rule should now be put to an end.
"More taxes. Rising prices. Economic demise. Gloriagate. Jueteng payola. And all the other foul deeds of the US-Arroyo regime are further arousing the people to oust it," added Rosal.
