CPP dismisses "NPA-infiltration bogey" as a worn-out lie, but warns against the AFP and PNP creating their own mischief in SONA rallies.

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today dismissed as a worn-out tale the "NPA-infiltration" bogey again being used by the police and military to scare people away from anti-Arroyo protests, even as it warned of possible mischief by government forces themselves.

The CPP spokesperson Gregorio "Ka Roger" Rosal was referring to statements and press releases by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) claiming that the New People's Army plans to join and foment violence in the massive anti-Arroyo protest rallies scheduled to coincide with the President Arroyo's State of the Nation Address on July 25.

Rosal said the NPA-infiltration tale "has been repeatedly proven a big fat lie."

"Wala nang naniniwala sa PNP at AFP sa parang sirang-plakang pinagsasabi nilang 'NPA-infiltration' sa mga rali laban kay Arroyo (Nobody believes anymore in the PNP and AFP's oft-repeated yarn about NPA-infiltration of anti-Arroyo rallies)," said Rosal.

"Para magmukhang totoo ang kanilang kwentong infiltration ng NPA, naglabas pa ang PNP ng wiretapped tape ng pag-uusap diumano ni Ka Roger sa isang di- kilalang kasapi ng NPA. Pinilipit nila nang husto ang kanilang istorya at pinalalabas pang may balak na asasinasyon ang NPA," (To lend credence to their NPA-infiltration fairy-tale, the PNP has resorted to releasing a so- called wiretapped conversation between Ka Roger and a supposed member of the NPA. Their have twisted their story so much in order to come up with a supposed NPA assassination plot), Rosal added.

He said the "minimum objective" of the PNP and AFP in weaving the rally- infiltration tale is to justify police and military measures that will prevent the people from joining anti-Arroyo rallies. "As in July 13, the AFP-PNP wants to use it as pretext to restrict and control the free movement of people in and outside Metro Manila in order to prevent them from joining anti-Arroyo rallies." He pointed out how the police and military prevented thousands from within and outside Metro Manila from joining protest actions in Makati. "They will use it to justify their blocking of rallyists' vehicles again at checkpoints and prevent entry to Metro Manila of rallyists from the provinces."

"Malacanang has consistently belittled the protest actions, but in reality, it trembles in fear that protest actions demanding her ouster would snowball into a massive demonstration that will force her out of Malacanang," Rosal added.

At the same time, Rosal expressed more serious concern that the AFP and PNP's might use of the "NPA-infiltration" bogey to create violent mischief against the rallyists and then blame it on the NPA. Rosal asked the rallyists to ensure the security of their ranks to prevent AFP and PNP elements and agents from infiltrating the rallies and provoking violence.
