"Wiretapped Ka Roger tapes", a big hoax -- CPP

July 21, 2005

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today assailed the dirty tricks department of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for concocting and circulating in the press a so-called wiretapped conversation between CPP spokesperson Gregorio "Ka Roger" Rosal and a fictional member of the New People's Army.

"This is another big hoax of a desperate regime," declared Rosal. He reiterated that armed fighters of the NPA will not be joining massive anti- Arroyo demonstrations expected on July 25 to coincide with Gloria Arroyo's State of the Nation Address (SONA).

The CPP spokesperson said that "It is not unlikely at all that those who concocted and produced these so-called wiretapped conversations of Ka Roger were the same people behind the obviously fake Bunye's 'original or Gary Rualo version' of the Gloriagate tapes and also the clumsily-done DZRJ- produced 'X-Tapes'."

Rosal accused Malacanang, PNP and AFP spin doctors of following the Hitler propaganda principle of "repeating a lie over and over again to make it 'true'."

"They concoct a very big lie that the NPA will infiltrate the protest actions and foment violence and repeat it endlessly," said Rosal. But as often been proven in the past, he added, "their lies are all bound to be exposed."

"The Arroyo government has concocted the "NPA-infiltration" sham to justify the police and military measures to dissuade and block the people from joining protest actions," Rosal added, recalling out how some thousands within and outside Metro Manila were prevented from joining protest actions last July 13 in Makati.

At the same time, Rosal advised the people joining the demonstrations, especially on June 25, to closely secure their ranks against "police and military infiltrators who may provoke or cause violence."

He warned the Arroyo regime against "repeating a Plaza Miranda" with the use of military-police forces or paid agents, "and then blaming it ala- Marcos on the NPA." In August 1971, Marcos ordered the grenade-throwing at the opposition Liberal Party rally at Plaza Miranda and blamed the NPA for the attack.
