CPP condemns intrusion of US military ship in Philippine waters October 12, 2005
The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today condemned the US government for "barefacedly violating Philippine territorial sovereignty" as a US military ship sailed in shallow waters off the coast of Basilan and Zamboanga City and was spotted by local fishermen yesterday.
The CPP has strongly and consistently been denouncing the Arroyo government for allowing the US military full berth to enter and leave Philippine territory in outright violation of Philippine sovereignty.
CPP spokesperson Gregorio "Ka Roger" Rosal likewise took to task Arroyo's security officials who feigned ignorance about the entry of the unidentified US ship in Zamboanga.
"Arroyo's military and police officials do not stop bragging about their ability to monitor the plans and movement of so-called terrorists. Yet, they claim that they were unaware that this huge military ship of the biggest terrorist of them all is invading our seas. That is pure hogwash!" said Rosal.
Rosal decried the fact that US imperialism has time and again invoked the protection of the Filipino people's interests in its so-called "global war against terror." In fact, said Rosal, it is the Filipino people who are the victims of such repeated and barefaced violations of Philippine sovereignty by US military troops, and all with the consent of its number one puppet, Gloria Arroyo.
The CPP spokesman urged the Filipino people to resist the Arroyo regime's all-out puppetry, denounce US invasion of our sovereignty and intervention in our internal affairs, and push forward the struggle for national liberation and democracy.
