CPP says Arroyo regime is veering towards open fascism
March 11, 2005

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today vowed to take action against the Arroyo regime for the recent string of violent attacks against leaders of cause-oriented organizations even as it called on the people to guard against the "rising trend of open fascist and state terrorist rule."

CPP spokesman Gregorio "Ka Roger" Rosal accused the Arroyo regime, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and their armed minions for the murder last Wednesday of Romeo Sanchez, an officer of the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) in Baguio City, as well as the death ten days ago of Tarlac City councilor Abelardo Ladera, a Bayan Muna member.

Rosal also charged that the military was responsible for the forcible disappearance of Bayan-Central Luzon official Danny Macapagal, who was taken in front of his house in Cabanatuan City on March 3 and is feared to have been summarily executed.

"The Arroyo regime will be made accountable for these attacks against people's organizations," Rosal vowed. "The New People's Army (NPA) will do its utmost to punish the perpetrators of these dastardly acts."

"These attacks indicate the Arroyo regime's desperation in the face of escalating resistance to its antipeople economic policies. It is turning to more open fascist measures to suppress the people's demand for wage increases and land reform and their opposition to incessant oil price increases, foreign debt payments and cuts in social spending," Rosal added.
