Various countries strongly condemned the terrorist airstrike by Zionist Israel on the Iranian embassy in Syria on April 1. Among those killed in the airstrike were two Iranian army generals, five military advisors and others. The attack is part of the US and Israel’s escalation of the armed conflict in the Middle East, and striking against countries supporting the Palestinian resistance in Gaza.

Iran called the attack a “flagrant violation of the United Nations (UN) Charter, international laws, and the basic principle of inviolability” of diplomatic and consular buildings. The attack was condemned by a majority of countries in an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on April 2. As expected, the US, UK and France did not express any condemnation.

In the face of the tragedy, Iran’s president Ebrahim Raisi vowed it would not let the terrorist attack pass and said Iran had the right to take “decisive measures” against Israel. Also, Iran will continue to support Hamas and armed groups fighting the Israeli genocide in Gaza, he said.

The terrorist attack shows the weakness of the Zionist regime to defeat the Palestinian armed forces on the ground and the status in Gaza is now in a “stalemate”, according to Vahid Jalalzadeh, head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian parliament. “After six months, the regime has not defeated the Palestinian resistance groups, despite it claiming to have the fifth largest army in the world.”

Iran delivered an “important message” to the US government as a “supporter of the Zionist entity” and said it should also be held accountable for the crime. The US denies it had anything to do with the airstrike and instead told Iran to “avoid escalating the situation.”

The flatenning of the Iranian embassy is just the latest in a series of Israeli terror attacks in Syria. Prior to this, the Zionist regime had bombed the international airport and residential areas of the country several times. Like Iran, Syria is one of the countries that stands up for Palestine.
