TO THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE
COMMUNIST PARTY OF THE PHILIPPINES

The Central Committee of the Communist Party in Switzerland extends its most heartfelt condolences on the abduction, torture, and murder of Chairman Laan (Benito Tiamzon) and General Secretary Bagong-tao (Wilma Austria-Tiamzon) of the Communist Party of the Philippines and eight fighters of the guerrilla force of the Party’s central headquarters by the fascist Armed Forces of the Philippines in a special operation commanded directly by US imperialism.

The vile massacre of the Catbalogan Ten is not only a monstrous violation of international law, human rights, and the rights of the Filipino people — it marks a significant escalation in the counter-revolutionary war conducted by the fascist US- and China-backed Marcos-Duterte regime. There can be no doubt that the imperialists and their reactionary Filipino lackeys are aiming to drown the People’s War in blood; however, if the ideological and political line is correct, that blood will not drown the revolution, but water it.

The reactionaries always aim, on the one hand, to separate the revolutionaries from the people, and on the other, to decapitate the revolution by liquidating its leadership. The murder of Chairman Gonzalo (Abimael Guzman) of the Communist Party of Peru in September 2021 and the death in exile of Founding Chairman Amado Guerrero (Jose Maria Sison) of the Communist Party of the Philippines in December 2022, as well as the recent Catbalogan Massacre, serve as proof of this. The State carries out such counter-revolutionary acts in order to eliminate Communist leadership, by which the reactionaries hope to give revisionists inside the Party the opportunity to rise to leading posts, both of which serve the function of separating the revolutionaries from the people and causing the defeat of the revolution. The principal cause of the development of a thing is internal, not external. While the armed counter-revolution is the principal external danger to the revolution, the principal internal danger (and hence the principal danger to the development of the revolution) is revisionism. This should never be forgotten.

Our Party joins the international communist movement in mourning the deaths of Comrades Laan, Bagong-tao, and others at the hands of US imperialism and the Filipino reactionaries. We are certain that the Filipino proletariat and people, guided by the correct ideological and political line under the leadership of the Communist Party of the Philippines, without relying on any imperialist superpower or power but solely on the strength of the working masses, will persist in the People’s War, complete the new-democratic revolution, advance to socialism, and finally enter communism along with the rest of humanity.
