The National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) is approaching its fiftieth birthday (April 24, 2023). All members of FFPS-China and all comrades/friends who are closely united with FFPS-China would like to extend warm congratulations to the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines led by the Communist Party of the Philippines!

The National Democratic Front of the Philippines was founded 50 years ago during the fascist dictatorship of Marcos. At that time, under the brutal repression of the US-Marcos regime, the vast majority of Filipino workers, farmers and other progressive classes realized that a united front for armed struggle and able to unite the vast majority of the people was necessary to completely overthrow the reactionary government. As a result, the Communist Party of the Philippines, representing the interests of workers and peasants, united with other progressive organizations for the liberation of the Philippines and formed the NDFP.

The economic and social situation in the Philippines today is grave. The reactionary authorities in the Philippines have been unable to address the root causes of the civil war, but have only deepened the semi-colonial and semi-feudal crisis. Now in the case of frequent new crises, the NDFP under the leadership of the CPP will surely win over more Filipinos to the side of the revolution and push the Philippine revolution to a new stage.

The Communist Party of the Philippines has flexibly applied the three magic weapons of Maoism — party building, armed struggle and united front — to make itself invincible and continue to grow. As the Great leader Ka Joma rightly pointed out in “The Filipino People’s Democratic Revolution Is Invincible” : “In their struggle for national and social liberation, the Filipino people regard the CPP as the most important revolutionary weapon responsible for leading the people’s democratic revolution. In turn, the CPP wields two other powerful weapons, armed struggle and the united front (constituted as the New People’s Army and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines, respectively). The NPA is the main force for fighting and defeating the coercive apparatuses of the reactionary state and enabling the rise of the people’s democratic government. The NDFP is responsible for building the comprehensive national united front and winning over the people in their tens of millions to the revolution against the armed counterrevolution.”

China and the Philippines are different countries in nature, but there is no doubt that the Chinese and Filipino people are both severely exploited and oppressed by their own exploiting classes. The Chinese people and the Filipino people are both facing the crisis of insufficient income, soaring prices, widening gap between rich and poor and deteriorating working conditions. These crises are continually increasing the number of poor people who are dissatisfied with the authorities, that is, continually enlarging the potential fuses for proletarian revolution. In China, an increasing number of people – especially the youth – have become politicized, engaged in Marxist-Leninist-Maoist reflections, and gradually moved to the left, gradually moving away from the revisionist theoretical framework of the Chinese Revisionist Party (CRP). Although they are a tiny minority of the total population in China, their numbers are growing. In other words, the balance of class power within China is slowly changing. With our continuous efforts and the passage of time, the revolutionary power that is being accumulated in China will sooner or later be greater than or roughly equal to the counter-revolutionary power of Chinese revisionist state. In many years, the revolutionary forces within China will surely form a united front, and FFPS-China will have much to learn from the NDFP. The NDFP was chosen as a model to learn from because NDFP is the best example of Maoist united front in the international communist movement today. NDFP has rich experience in fighting practices, and Ka Joma summarized the methods and fighting experiences of carrying out the United Front in “On the United Front”. FFPS-China hopes to learn from the NDFP’s experience how to enlist more people to support the revolutionary cause. The Chinese left firmly stands with the Philippine revolutionary people and expects the final victory of the Filipino People’s Democratic Revolution.

The entire FFPS and National Democratic Front of the Philippines have always maintained a close relationship and worked collaboratively on many issues. The comrades of FFPS-China believe that all the comrades of FFPS worldwide hope to maintain closer cooperation with the NDFP in the future, assist the NDFP led by the Communist Party of the Philippines, and contribute their own efforts to overthrow the reactionary authorities in the Philippines.

We have just learned the terrible news of the heroic deaths of our beloved Ka Laan and Ka Bagong-tao. They were respectively the chairman of the Executive Committee of the Central Committee and the general secretary of the Central Committee. Their sacrifice is a great loss to all the Filipino people and the revolutionary people of the world. All the members of FFPS-China and all the comrades/friends who are closely associated with FFPS-China express great sorrow and regret over the loss of Ka Laan and Ka Bagong-tao. We will celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the NDFP in the great sorrow of the sacrifice of Ka Laan and Ka Bagong-tao. We promise that we will carry on the immortal revolutionary spirit of Ka Laan and Ka Bagong-tao and strive to take the lead in the way forward!

Long live the Communist Party of the Philippines!
