The Efren Martires Command (New People’s Army-Eastern Visayas Region) says there will be more tactical offensives in the coming weeks, and joins other NPA regional commands in rejecting the the local peace talks scheme of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines as “psywar to sow disunity and bring about the surrender of the revolutionary forces.”

According to Efren Martires Command spokersperson Ka Karlos Manuel, “We commend the Rodante Urtal Command (New People’s Army-Northern Samar) for carrying out the successful raid of the Lapinig police headquarters last August 10, where it is confirmed that 10 M16 rifles, two 9 mm. pistols, 1,000 rounds of M16 ammunition, 49 M16 magazines and other important equipments and documents were confiscated.

“We call on other NPA units in the region to carry out tactical offensives against similar legitimate targets comprising the police, military and paramilitary forces of the GRP. Let us intensify guerrilla warfare according to our capabilities and based on our widening and deepening mass base.

“We fully support the peace negotiating panel of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines and regret the cancellation of the peace talks and the hope for an agreement on social and economic reforms. It is the dastardly plan of the GRP to launch all-out war against the revolutionary forces and the people in its desperate dash to fascist dictatorship.

“Therefore, the Efren Martires Command rejects the GRP’s local peace talks as psywar on the one hand, while on the other hand intensified combat and intelligence operations are being launched, all in the vain hope that such all-out war will halve or render the NPA inconsequential by yearend. The Efren Martires Command is united with the national leadership of the Communist Party of the Philippines, NPA and NDFP in solidly and vigorously fighting the US-Duterte regime.”

Ka Karlos Manuel furthermore called on the people to unite and oust the Duterte regime. “The corruption, fascism and puppetry of the US-Duterte regime are plunging the country into social and political turmoil. But at the same time, such dark conditions also mean the twilight of Duterte as the people are bound to form the broadest unity towards another ouster of a hated regime. Thus, the NPA is ready to intensify offensives to hasten Duterte’s departure and to raise the people’s war to a new and higher level until the reactionary ruling sytem can be overthrown.”#
