Iran launched at least 200 missiles and drones last night, April 13, targeting Israeli military bases and facilities. Iran says this attack is in accordance with international law in relation to the country’s right to self-defense and is a response to the Israeli attack on the Iranian embassy on April 1 in Syria.

“Conducted on the strength of Article 51 of the UN Charter pertaining to legitimate defense, Iran’s military action was in response to the Zionist regime’s aggression against our diplomatic premises in Damascus,” Iran’s foreign minister said. “We will not hesitate to take additional measures to preserve our interests in the face of aggression.”

On April 1, Zionist Israel bombed the Iranian embassy in Damascus in Syria. Among those killed in the airstrike were two Iranian army generals, five military advisers and others. The attack is part of the US and Israel’s escalation of the armed conflict in the Middle East, and attack on countries that support the Palestinian resistance in Gaza. Iran immediately called a meeting of the United Nations Security Council, but the US blocked any action.

One of Iran’s targets was the Nevatim Air Base, where the F-35 planes that attacked Syria originated. This air base is located in the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel.

Iran says it carried out the military operation after 10 days of silence and neglect by international organizations, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to condemn the aggression and criminality of the Zionist regime.

“The matter can be deemed concluded,” Iran’s ambassador to the UN said a few hours after the military action. “However, should the Israeli regime make another mistake, Iran’s response will be considerably more severe. It is a conflict between Iran and the rogue Israeli regime, from which the US must stay away!”

“We warn the terrorist government of America that any of its support or participation against Iran’s interests will result in a decisive and tragic response by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” according to the country’s armed forces. “Also, America is responsible for the treacherous actions of the Zionist regime, and if this rogue regime in the region is not stopped, it will be held accountable,” Iran warned.
