The Kabataang Makabayan (KM)-Cebu and the KM-Cheene Dacalos chapter put up posters and calls at the University of the Philippines (UP)-Cebu campus in Cebu City last week. This was part of the celebration of KM members on the 55th anniversary of the New People’s Army on March 29.

Prominent in the written calls is the justness of the armed struggle being launched by the NPA in the vast countryside. These calls include “There is no NPA where there is no hunger, poverty, [and] oppression. There is the NPA to end them all. Revolution is just! Long live the NPA!”

The calls also presented the life and sacrifice of Cheene Dacalos, NPA leader, who was killed in the battle on September 14, 2021 in Sityo Balik-bailk, Barangay Tabu, Ilog, Negros Occidental along with three other Red fighters. Dacalos or Ka Nikki, is of the petty bourgeoisie and was a student of UP Cebu before joining the people’s army.

Recently, the martyrdom of Hannah Cesista, among the martyrs of Bilar, Bohol, was featured. Cesista, like Dacalos, came from UP Cebu before becoming an NPA fighter in Bohol.

The KM-Cebu activity last week was part of the various activities of KM chapters across the country to mark the anniversary of the NPA. KM chapters conducted poster operations, streamer-hanging operations, pamphlet distribution, meetings and others.
