The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) joins the Afghan people and people around the world in condemning the Trump government and the US military for dropping the 21,600 pound GBU-43 bomb in the Achin district of Nangarhar province in Afghanistan.

The bomb delivered the strength of 11 tons of explosive, the biggest non-nuclear bomb ever used. It was dropped in the areas where armed resistance against the US-puppet Afghan government is strong.

The CPP condemns the US government for using such a weapon of mass destruction. The use of such an indiscriminate weapon constitutes a war crime. The massive strength of the US bomb was designed to maximize its kill zone.

The CPP condemns the US imperialists for claiming the right to carry out a military attack in Afghanistan. The US is reported to have dropped around 12,000 bombs since 2012 killing thousans of Afghan civilians.

The US does not have the right to drop bombs in Afghanistan, in Syria or any other country for that matter. The US government is not the world’s police, though it arrogantly proclaims itself to be.

It is hypocritical for the US to justify its use of the giant bomb by claiming to be targeting the forces of the Islamic State in Afghanistan, while in Syria, it tolerates the IS forces which are working hand-in-hand with the US-backed anti-Syrian government terrorist forces.
