Anti Imperialist Action Ireland sends its warm congratulations to the Filipino anti-imperialist revolutionaries of the Communist Party of the Philippines on the occasion of its 54th anniversary this Monday. The Socialist Republican movement admires the perseverance, dedication, and self-sacrifice of the cadres of the CPP and the red fighters of the New People’s Army currently making unimaginable sacrifices to transform the Philippines into a just and soveirgn country where the immense natural resources of the islands of the Philippines and their oceans are used for the common good of the people rather than a mob of yank, Brit, EU, and Chinese imperialists.

We recognise that this has been a year of serious hardship for the CPP, with the loss of NPA National Commander Ka Bok and the recent tragic passing of the CPP’s founder Ka Joma Sison, and also the restoration of the fascistic and brutal Marcos dynasty to power. However, as made clear in the CPP’s recent report “Consolidate and further strengthen the Party! Frustrate the US-Marcos regime’s counterrevolutionary war and state terrorism! Comprehensively advance the people’s democratic revolution!”, the National Democratic revolution has grown under repression and difficulty, adapting to new challenges and building a better future for the people whose lives it touches.

Anti Imperialist Action Ireland salutes the CPP for 54 years of fighting the corrupt puppets of the imperialists, protecting the enviornment, and defending the interests of minorities such as the Lumad and Moro people and the LGBTQ community. We of the Socialist Republican tradition in Ireland are inspired by the example set by the proud revolutionary tradition of the Filipino people in our common resistance against colonialism on our islands. We wish the CPP well in their celebrations.
