Allied organizations celebrate 53rd NDFP anniversary
National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) allied organizations carried out various activities in recent weeks to mark its 53rd anniversary. The NDFP was established on April 24, 1973 as the revolutionary united front of the Filipino people for armed struggle.
Kabataang Makabayan (KM) launched a lightning rally on April 28 in Manila to present to the youth and the public the NDFP anniversary and the correctness of people’s war. KM-Kira Mindoro posted statements and carried out paint-and-post operations (OP-OD) on May 3 in parts of Sta. Mesa.
KM-Batangas pasted and distributed stickers on the night of April 24 in Batangas. These featured drawings depicting people aspiring for revolutionary change.
Liga ng Agham para sa Bayan (LAB, or League of Scientists for the People) chapters also carried out OP-OD in various parts of Metro Manila. According to the group, its chapters conducted the activity along Taft Avenue and España Avenue in Manila, and along Katipunan Avenue and at the University of the Philippines (UP)-Diliman in Quezon City.
Katipunan ng mga Gurong Makabayan (Kaguma, or Alliance of Patriotic Teachers) chapters launched separate rallies to celebrate the anniversary. They held two actions on sidewalks and crowded areas, and one inside the UP Diliman campus.

A Compatriots chapter in Australia held a gathering to mark the NDFP anniversary. Statements of solidarity from allied organizations of the NDFP and messages of support from the Communist Party of Australia–Marxist-Leninist and the Marxist Workers Party were read at the event.
Inside guerrilla areas, the New People’s Army (NPA) together with the Pambansang Katipunan ng mga Magbubukid also marked the NDFP anniversary. NPA-Southern Tagalog (Melito Glor Command) spokesperson Ka Cleo del Mundo led the greetings to the NDFP and pushed for strengthening the mass movement against US imperialism. They burned a small US flag to condemn US war aggression against Iran and its attacks on many other sovereign nations.
Many other NDFP allied organizations and chapters in regions and provinces extended greetings for the anniversary. International parties and organizations also conveyed their greetings, including Anti-Imperialist Action Ireland, Communist (Maoist) Party of Afghanistan, and Friends of the Filipino People in Struggle/Friends of the National Democratic Front (FFPS/FNDF).
Across all gatherings and statements, participants honored the martyrs and heroes of the Filipino people, including the Toboso 19—the Red fighters, civilian organizers, and journalist massacred in Barangay Salamanca, Toboso, Negros Occidental. They joined the growing call for justice for the Toboso 19.
