FFPS and allied groups launch activities in support of NDFP

Friends of the Filipino People in Struggle (FFPS) and its allied organizations launched various activities in 10 countries worldwide on April 26 in support of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) and its struggle against US imperialist war and aggression in the Philippines. They held demonstrations, mounted posters, distributed leaflets, and painted graffiti.

At least 24 FFPS allied organizations and anti-imperialist groups participated in the activities. Their actions highlighted the justness of the NDFP liberation movement as defense and resistance against the war of aggression and destruction US imperialism brings to the Philippines and worldwide.

“As the NDFP and the revolutionary struggle in the Philippines continue to advance and consolidate political power, it directly challenges imperialist domination,” FFPS chairperson Robert Reid said. This means that as the liberation movement grows stronger, US imperialist grip in the Philippines weakens.

The Filipino people are currently facing a war supported and directed by the US through the puppet Marcos regime. In the face of this, “the Philippine revolution is the expression of the Filipino people’s desire to be free from foreign domination,” Reid said.

A clear picture of the Marcos regime’s subservience to the US is the ongoing Balikatan war games launched on April 21 and will be ending on May 9. Thousands of American troops are participating in these war games, which trample on the national sovereignty of the Philippines. The US also has dragged its allied countries such as Japan, Australia, the United Kingdom, and others into the war games.

Finch Foley of the US group People Organizing for Philippine Solidarity-FFPS condemned the Trump government’s sale of $5.58 billion worth of arms to the Philippines. “[This is] ensuring their stronghold in the country and preparing to drag the country into the US’ war efforts against China,” Foley said.

Amid this seemingly giant enemy, the Filipino people proved that no amount of money and foreign intervention can destroy the mass movement fighting for just and lasting peace. “Their struggle deserves our full support,” he added.

In this spirit, the Filipino struggle is an “active component of the global anti-imperialist struggle.”

The FFPS day of action is also part of their opposition to the upcoming US-North Atlantic Treaty Organization meeting in June in The Netherlands. The US uses NATO against its imperialist rival China in the Asia-Pacific region.

The FFPS is a global organization supporting the NDFP, which the group recognizes as the true representative of the Filipino people. The group also supports the 12-point program of the NDFP for a progressive and prosperous Philippines. The NDFP celebrated its 52nd anniversary on April 24.
