NPA metes punishment against 2 AFP intel assets in Northern Samar

The New People’s Army (NPA)-Northern Samar (Rodante Urtal Command) armed actions killed two Philippine Army intelligence assets in Northern Samar. Eastern Visayas revolutionary mass paper Larab reported that the NPA carried out the people’s court’s decision to impose the death penalty on the assets in January.

The report stated that the people’s army imposed the death penalty on Janrey “Dodok” Capate Montibon on January 30 in Barangay Osmeña, Palapag town. The 74th IB designated him as an asset, and the 78th IB mobilizes him when deployed to the area.

BHB-Northern Samar gathered data proving Montibon responsible for regular intelligence gathering in NPA camps, which he disguised as forest hunting or copra gathering. He used a military-issued smartphone for his intelligence work. He also joined in harassing and baselessly linking toiling peasants to the people’s army.

BHB-Northern Samar imposed the death penalty on Nonoy “Blue” Norcio on January 3 in Barangay Imelda, Las Navas. The provincial command said Norcio served as a zealous enemy asset who began his evildoings when recruited at the start of the 20th IB’s Retooled Community Support Program operations in the barrio in 2021.

He was also the murderous battalion’s main asset in harassing peasants and scouting the mountains to locate NPA bases. The military pays him for it.

The responsible revolutionary committees in the barrio, Party branch, or NPA unit assigned to the area of the accused’s crimes conducted a thorough and careful investigation process before imposing the punishments.

The people’s court then formed, and the necessary revolutionary judicial processes followed. These included presenting the charges to the accused and giving them a chance to explain and defend themselves. This strictly followed the rules of international humanitarian law.
