Palestinians reject the US and Zionist Israel’s “board of peace” and ISF scheme in Gaza
Palestinians and peoples worldwide strongly condemned the “board of peace” scheme and the establishment of an “international stabilization force” (ISF) in Gaza that was passed as a resolution in the United Nations Security Council. Resolution 280 was adopted on November 17 with a vote of 13-0 and two abstentions (Russia and China).
Hamas immediately denounced the resolution. It described the “board of peace” as a “forcible imposition of international administration over Gaza.” It violates the rights of Palestinians. It also forces Hamas to surrender through the UN. The group refutes the neutrality of the soon-to-be established ISF.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PLFP) also condemned the resolution. It said the resolution failed to sufficiently address the Palestinians’ demands for sovereignty and self-determination. It did not guarantee the rights of Palestinian refugees. It disregarded the legitimate grievances of Palestinians and forced foreign intervention.
The PLFP stated that the newest scheme of the US and Israel is nothing but a “deeper form of imperialist domination.”
Meanwhile, Francesca Albanese condemned the resolution as “deeply confusing and concerning” and “illegal.” Albanese is the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Palestine.
“Rather than charting a pathway toward ending the occupation and ensuring Palestinian protection, the resolution risks entrenching external control over Gaza’s governance, borders, security, and reconstruction,” Albanese declared. “This resolution betrays the people it is claims to protect.”
She said the resolution focuses on the decommissioning of armed groups resisting the occupation in Gaza. It contains no provision aimed at addressing the roots of the armed conflict.
If there is to be an international presence in Gaza, its role must be to oversee Israel’s immediate and unconditional withdrawal from Palestinian territories, she added.
Palestinian people supporters in the Philippines continued to express solidarity with their struggle for self-determination and resistance against US and Israeli imperialist aggression and occupation.
“Trump calls it a ‘historic breakthrough’. Netanyahu calls it ‘peace and prosperity’. We call it hypocrisy and aggression,” the Philippines-Palestine Friendship Association (PPFA) stated.
The PPFA is among those supporting the International People’s Tribunal for Palestine, which is set to hold Trump and Netanyahu accountable for genocide and ecocide. It is scheduled to take place on November 22–23 in Barcelona, Spain.
