12SRC and 58th IB, blasted with CDX

THE NEW PEOPLE’S Army – North Central Mindanao Region (NPA-NCMR) lauds the Red fighters of Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon in their simultaneous attacks against the troops of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) last July 28.

NPA-Bukidnon detonated a command detonated explosive (CDX) against troops of 12th Scout Ranger Company, under 2nd Lt. Andrew L. Umali, while conducting combat operations in Sitio Binicalan, Barangay Lumintao, Quezon, Bukidnon. The encounter started at 10:40 a.m. and lasted for about 40 minutes. Sgt. Al Luntayao was killed-in-action while two other AFP troops were wounded-in-action (WIA).

Earlier, at around 5 a.m., a unit of NPA-Misamis Oriental also detonated a CDX against operating troops of Alpha Coy, 58th IB in Pulo, Kamansi, Barangay Kibanban, Balingasag. The Red fighters safely withdrew while casualties of the AFP were not yet confirmed.

On the next day, July 29, at around 3 p.m., the same NPA unit harassed another enemy column at the same place of encounter in Quezon, Bukidnon. Four AFP troops were confirmed as WIA.

The NPA launched these offensives in response to the AFP’s sustained operations against the revolutionary movement and fascist attacks against the masses of the said communities.
