More than 100 hired goons violently demolished houses in Dalat, San Roque, Bangkal, Davao City on December 21. According to the Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay)-Davao, the violent destruction of community houses injured three residents.

The threat of demolition first surfaced in the community on December 10. Residents said the threat of eviction came from the office of Atty. Elisio Braganza. On the same day, employees of the Davao City Local Government Unit (LGU), particularly from the City Engineering Office, were seen in the community.

“San Roque residents continue to stand firm, and the community calls for the cessation of intimidation and demolition,” Kadamay-Davao said. They demanded that the local government respect their right to housing and provide proper compensation for those affected by the demolition.
