Thirty students and members of Tamaraws for Palestine (T4P) picketed before the Far Eastern University (FEU) in Morayta, Manila on July 15 to voice out their support for the Palestinian people and their struggle for national liberation. T4P denounced the ongoing genocidal campaign of the Zionist Israel state, supported by US imperialism, against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

The group said they staged the protest to spread awareness to their fellow FEU students of what is happening in Gaza. In the last reports of the Health Ministry of Gaza, at least 38,713 people have been killed in Israeli attacks and relentless bombings since October 7, 2023. Meanwhile, 89,166 have been recorded as wounded and hundreds of thousands have been displaced.

The latest in a series of Israeli attacks include the aerial bombing of al-Mawasi, an evacuation center where 80,000 displaced Palestinians have taken refuge on July 13. The al-Mawasi is found on the border of Khan Younis and Rafah.

This resulted in the death of 90 Palestinians and the wounding of over 300 others. Five bombs and five missiles hit the victims’ tents, including the displaced people’s drinking water distillation facility. The area is among the “safe zones” in Gaza that the Zionist state itself has set.

After the program and speeches, T4P members lit a candle as a symbol of their pursuit of justice and in recognition of the genocide victims in Gaza. A discussion with other FEU students followed.

The group said “students should not be silent. Let us all use our voice in calling out the oppressors and to speak up for the oppressed.”
