Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) USA and Malaya Movement USA strongly condemned the attendance of the NTF-Elcac and other representatives of the US-Marcos regime at the 4th United Nations Counter Terrorism Week (UNCTW) in New York City.

On June 28, progressive groups protested in front of the United Nations to expose the lies of the NTF-Elcac. Earlier, the groups peacefully approached Rodolfo Asel Tor of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency and Bernardo Florece Jr, undersecretary of the Anti-Terrorism Council. Instead of facing them and answering their demands regarding the Negros 19, Tor simply told them to “calm down”.

The delegates then ran to their SUV and drove away quickly from the protesters. Several members of the group chased the SUV for a few blocks while demanding that the agency be held accountable for widespread killings and terror tagging in the Philippines.

Inside the consulate, the NTF-Elcac deceptively invited Filipinos to a town hall meeting. They then launched a presentation regarding terror grooming and Red-tagged progressive groups. Part of the presentation involved justifying state killings. According to those who attended the meeting, they would not have come had they known the topic of the forum. Meanwhile, activists were barred from entering the town hall.

Despite the severe economic crisis in the Philippines, the delegates still managed to squander public funds to attend the UNCTW, the Malaya Movement said.
