Justice called anew for Cordillera Human Rights Alliance former volunteer
On July 28, Brandon Lee went to the Philippine consulate in San Francisco to submit a letter to assert the reopening of the investigaton on his case. However, he was barred from entering his letter was refused. Before this, he delivered a statement at the Commission on Human Rights’ investigation on Red-tagging, demanding accountability and exposing the blatant disregard and lack of interest from the governments of the Philippines and the US in achieving justice for victims of state violence.
Lee is a former Ifugao Peasant Movement volunteer and Cordillera Human Rights Alliance paralegal. He is a Chinese-American but the Tuwali community of Ifugao consider him as one of their own. On August 6, 2019, the military shot him in front of his house in Ifugao, resulting in his paralysis. Before the incident, he received several death threats and was accused of supporting the revolutionary movement.
Six years have passed, yet no one has been held accountable. He continues to fight for justice.
“We continue to call for justice and accountability. We demand a reinvestigation of Brandon Lee’s case!” the Cordillera Human Rights Alliance stated.
