NPA-Northern Negros targets military assets
The New People’s Army (NPA)-Northern Negros (Roselyn Jean Pelle Command) mounted two armed actions against military assets in Negros Occidental on September 3-4. These assets were involved in two incidents where temporary camps of the people’s army were raided that martyred Red fighters.
On September 3, the NPA ambushed 79th IB asset Pablo Brillantes at Hacienda Cabayao, Barangay San Pablo, Manapla. Seized from him were a .45 caliber firearm, ammunition and magazines, and a radio.
Brillantes was instrumental in the raid on the location of four Red fighters at Hacienda Builders, Barangay San Pablo, Manapla on September 30, 2021. The raid killed Marilyn Badayos (Ka Monet), Rudy Carbajosa (Ka Brod), Ronilo Desabille (Ka Wowie), and Rufino Bocaval (Ka Simo).
A joint police and military force surrounded and raided the fighters’ quarters at exactly 2 a.m., while they were sleeping. The four were staying in the said house to recover from influenza.
On September 4, another NPA-Northern Negros unit ambushed military asset Johnny Boy dela Fuente at Sityo Vergara, Barangay Bug-ang, Toboso. The military used dela Fuente to harass and oppress residents and farmers in his home community in Sityo Magtuod. He was also responsible for leading a raid against an NPA unit there in 2008.
According to NPA-Northern Negros spokesperson Ka Cecil Estrella, the Red fighters of the NPA carried out the armed actions with utmost caution to avoid involving or harming civilians. Estrella also pointed out that these armed actions of the NPA in Negros were launched after the 3rd ID’s baseless declaration of having dismantled the island’s guerrilla fronts.
“The NPA-Northern Negros is more determined to intensify the armed struggle and will do everything it can to actively contribute to the overall advance of the people’s war,” Ka Cecil said.
