Palestinians pledge continued resistance on 1,000th day of Gaza genocide
On July 2, various armed groups in Gaza, Palestine issued a joint statement declaring their “pledge to resist” in the face of the 1,000th day of the genocide launched by Zionist Israel and US imperialism.
Israel failed in its objective to drive the Palestinians out of their own land, despite the widespread destruction of their communities and the brutality of the occupation, the statement read. They asserted the need to “strengthen the resistance in the West Bank, al-Quds, and all occupied lands” and rejected Israel and the US’ plan to “govern” Gaza. The statement was released amid Israel’s relentless violations of the ceasefire agreement entered into by both sides in October 2025.
On the same day, the Gaza Government Media Office released a comprehensive report detailing the long list of killings and other crimes committed by the Zionist Israel. Accordingly, 73,066 Palestinians have been confirmed killed, including more than 21,500 children and 12,500 women. Another 9,500 people remain missing and 173,514 were wounded. According to the report, 2,700 families have been completely wiped out with no survivors left, while 6,020 families have only a single survivor remaining. More than 58,800 children have been orphaned.
Israel has destroyed over 90% of the Gaza Strip and currently occupies 80% of its land. It is estimated to have dropped 223,000 tons of bombs on Gaza’s densely populated areas, destroying hospitals, schools, offices, other buildings, residential houses, and farmlands worth $80 billion. It has plunged more than 2.4 million people into hunger and genocide.
The 1,000th day was also marked through resistance and protests in various parts of the world.
In France, hundreds of individuals dressed in black held a silent march through the main streets of Paris. They carried photos of the victims and dolls symbolizing the more than 21,000 Palestinian children killed by Israel in Gaza. In the UK, a large march was launched on July 4 by a coalition of peace groups, unions, and communities. Protesters gathered at the Aneurin Bevan Statue on Queen Street in Cardiff, Wales to condemn the financial and military support given to Israel by the US and European nations. Mobilizations were also held across Europe where anti-war activists blocked and barricaded strategic ports to prevent the departure of ships laden with weapons bound for Israel.
In the US, a series of protest actions were held where activists read United Nations reports and called for justice under the slogan “1,000 Days of Genocide”.
