Introduction

Today we hold the International Day of Remembrance for Ka Oris, erstwhile spokesperson of the New People’s Army and National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) in Mindanao. He was one of the key commanders of the NPA and leading cadres of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).

Together with his medical aid Ka Pika, Ka Oris was murdered by the fascist agents of the US-Duterte regime on October 29, 2021 in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon which sparked widespread outrage among the patriotic, democratic, progressive and revolutionary forces in the Philippines and around the world.

We remember Ka Oris today as we mark the anniversary of the October Revolution in Russia, which opened a new stage in the struggle of the proletariat for emancipation from capitalist exploitation and oppression. It set the stage for socialist revolution and construction across the world.

By way of remembering Ka Oris, we are publishing this compilation of translations of the tribute of the CPP’s Central Committee published originally in English and Pilipino dated November 2, 2021. Through this translations, we hope that people around the world will get to know Ka Oris and how he gave all his life for the cause of the oppressed and exploited masses.

We would like to express our gratitude to all revolutionary and progressive forces around the world who have expressed their heartfelt sympathies to the Philippine revolutionary movement, as well as for translations of the Party’s tribute to Ka Oris, included in this compilation.

Indeed, the martyrdom of Ka Oris has served as an opportunity to strengthen international solidarity among various anti-imperialist movements across the world. As a communist and patriot, Ka Oris was keenly aware that the Philippine revolution was part of the international proletarian revolution to end imperialism and wage socialist revolution and construction.

In the first edition of this compilation, we feature translations in Philippine languages Bisaya and Hiligaynon, and in various foreign languages: Spanish, Portugese, Russian, German, Bahasa Indonesia, French, Turkish and Dutch. We hope to issue future editions featuring more languages in the coming days.
