Rep. Wilberto Lee, representing the AGRI-Partylist, continues to intimidate residents who oppose his land grabbing activities in Barangay Cogon, Gubat, Sorsogon.

On the afternoon of October 31, Asuncion Rosal and Rosana Almenie, residents of the said barangay, were collecting firewood when they were almost hacked by amuck Abel, an employee of Lee’s LKY Resorts and Hotels Inc. After the incident, Abel destroyed the fence in the area.

Prior to the incident, residents had filed several complaints before the barangay council against LKY employees for repeated incidents of intimidation and harassment.

Earlier, in August, the court dismissed the case filed by Lee against members of Kulag, a fisherfolk’s organization in Gubat. The case aimed to evict them and seize 28,473 square meters of land in Barangay Cogon.

According to Kulag, residents continue to demand the local government to stop the violence against them while the issue of land ownership in the barangay is still being resolved.
