Organizations condemns new wave of US-Zionist bombings in Iran
Organizations under the International League of Peoples’ Struggle firmly stand against the latest wave of bombings by the US and Zionist Israel in Iran.
“This is yet another blatant aggression by US imperialism and its Zionist mad dogs against an independent country in West Asia that has stood against their rule for 47 years,” it said on February 28. The bombings took place amid negotiations between the US and Iran regarding the latter’s nuclear programs. The US is arm-twisting Iran to dismantle its civilian nuclear weapons production program, which Iran refuses to do.
The Zionists again rained bombs on Tehran on the morning of February 28, hitting civilian structures and facilities. Eight more regions of the country were then bombed. According to the Red Crescent, the bombings killed at least 200. This includes 108 killed when the US bombed a school in southern Iran. The bombs came from dozens of US military bases in Israel and other countries in the Middle East and from a warship.
Among those killed in the US bombings included the country’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei when bombs pulverized his residence. Killed with him were his family and 40 other high-ranking officials of the country who had gathered to prepare for a new round of negotiations with the US.
“This shows that the US used the talks as an act of deception and never intended to come to a diplomatic agreement with Iran,” the ILPS said.
Hegemony in the Middle East
In the past year, the US has spread disinformation to justify its horrific crimes. One of the lies spread by US President Donald Trump in his State of the Union Address was the claim that Iran has missiles capable of reaching the US. Trump also keeps repeating the lie that Iran plans to produce nuclear weapons, which the US itself possesses. For a long time, the US has used similar lies to justify attacks on independent countries in the Middle East.
The bombings were carried out amid the ongoing genocide of Zionist Israel in Palestine despite a ceasefire, and Israeli attacks on Lebanon. This also happened alongside Trump’s establishment of his “Board of Peace” that will place the whole of Gaza and Palestine under the control of the US and Israel.
Unrelenting resistance
In self-defense, Iran launched hundreds of missiles and drones targeting Israeli military bases and US bases across the Middle East. These reportedly hit up to 27 bases in the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and other countries.
Iran described targeting US/Israel headquarters as a “comprehensive response” that is faster, stronger, and broader than its response in 2025.
Iranians strongly condemned the imperialist attacks on their country, calling them “a great crime” aimed at destroying Iran to plunder its oil wealth. The government there called for the immediate end of US-Israel aggression against the country.
