Dozens of organizers from the ranks of farmworkers, peasants, fisherfolk, semi-proletariat, women, youth, and artists attended the conference on rural mass work launched in an undiscloed location this April. The Pambansang Katipunan ng mga Magbubukid (PKM, or National Peasants’ Alliance) led the study conference under the Amado Guerrero Peasant School.

PKM said the study was a way to mark the anniversaries of the New People’s Army and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines. Members of Makabayang Kilusan ng Bagong Kababaihan (Makibaka, or Patriotic Movement of New Women), Katipunan ng mga Samahang Manggagawa (Kasama, or Alliance of Workers’ Associations), Kabataang Makabayan (KM, or Patriotic Youth), and Artista at Manunulat ng Sambayanan (ARMAS, or People’s Artists and Writers) joined the study conference. The students were divided into three classes.

The study focused on the topics Hakbang-hakbang na Pag-oorganisa (HHPO, or Step-by-step Organizing) and building Organo ng Kapangyarihang Pampulitika (OKP, or Organs of Political Power). These topics were selected to intensify recovery and expansion work for the revolutionary peasant movement.

PKM said many of the students expressed enthusiasm for participating in the study. After the sessions, they declared that building the Democratic People’s Government (DGB) is correct because the US imperialism’s current puppet state oppresses and exploits the vast majority of the Filipino people.

Establishing the DGB is one of the central tasks of the people’s democratic revolution alongside overthrowing US imperialism, feudalism, and bureaucrat capitalism, and seizing political power from the reactionary government. The Communist Party of the Philippines wields the New People’s Army as its principal weapon in armed struggle to defeat reactionary power, paving the way for the establishment of the DGB and its local counterparts.

PKM added that the studies aim to prepare revolutionary forces for organizing in the countryside as rural units or organizing groups. It said this also aligns with advancing the rectification movement through launching revolutionary studies. The Party’s Central Committee launched the rectification movement in December 2023.
