Taidoc Technology dismisses union officials in Taiwan

,

Taidoc Technology Labor Union workers, together with labor groups and youth-student organizations, protested at the Ministry of Labor office in Taiwan on February 9. The union denounced the company’s termination of its president, accusing him of launching an “illegal” strike. According to the union, the company’s dismissal is an attempt at union busting. This was the third time the union protested at the labor ministry.

The union filed another petition before the agency for a formal investigation of the company. It also urged the ministry to issue a decision on Taidoc management’s interference in the union, its disregard for the law, and its trampling on workers’ rights. The union called to freeze Taidoc’s permit to hire foreign workers should the company’s dismissal of the workers be proven illegal.

The Ministry of Labor’s promise to investigate the complaint against Taidoc under the law is not enough. The union said the agency’s response shows no interest in defending the workers’ rights. It also shows no sincerity or concern for the situation of the former union president and gives no assurance that he can stay in the country after being dismissed.

The union said that the company continues to ignore the union’s demands despite several mediation efforts with management. Beyond firing the union president, the company also branded him an undesirable worker in other factories. It accused union officers of “spreading information about an illegal strike” and “creating negative public opinion against the company.”

The union fears the dismissal of more of its members in the coming period. The company has relentlessly vilified the union and harassed its president since it was formed in October 2025.

“We are workers and people, but definitely not slaves to the company. Although we will shed tears, we will remain strong; while we will be sad, we will not despair. If our dignity is still being ignored by the company, we will still choose to keep standing up and not to be silent!” the union stated.
